DANCING ON THE MOON CONTIGO

Oscar Lopez is the only guitarist I know who can actually make an acoustic nylon string guitar scream with the same instrument he produces tears and laughter in his audiences. So few musicians combine the elements of musicality and chops with humor and passion, but Oscar does so. I am delighted to be his friend.

SELECTIONS

1. BAILANDRO RUMBA 4:09
It's nice to go out when the moon is bright, to celebrate the music of romance. We get to dance to the exotic rhythm others' lands. This is my interpretation of the rumba.
Oscar, rhythm, fill and lead guitar; Brent, electric bass; Gustavo, bongos; Peter, rhythm guitar.

2. MR. MELODY 2:37

I have a great friend and colleague who I consider to be one of the best Canadian poets of this era, James Keelaghan. One time he called me "Mr. Melody." I guess he was right, because melodies are what gives me the inspiration for this song.
Oscar, rhythm, lead and harmony guitar; Brent, electric bass; Gustavo, bongos; Peter, rhythm guitar.

3. LUCIA 5:14

A very important musical name, this song is dedicated to one of the greatest guitarists on this planet. This piece of music is a small tribute to El Senor Paco de Lucia.
Oscar, rhythm and lead guitar; Brent, electric bass; Peter, rhythm guitar; Utpal, tablas; Oscar, David, Brent and Peter, palmas.

4. DANCING ON THE MOON 3:50

This special song is a slow ballad taking the flavor from one of the traditional sounds of the Mediterranean rumba to make this melody a moonlight, new age, danceable piece.
Oscar, rhythm, fill, lead and harmony guitar; Brent, electric bass; Gustavo, bongos; Peter, rhythm guitar.

5. NO BARRICADE 3:20

I always say no matter what color we are or where we come from, music will keep us together. Music will always be music, the universal language of the people.
Oscar, rhythm, fill, lead and harmony guitar; Brent, electric bass; Gustavo, percussion.

6. SIMPLE MOMENTS 2:40

A short piece of music vibrates with a semi-classical inclination, followed by a line of solo harmonies that project the simplicity of musical moments.
Oscar, rhythm, lead guitar; Dorothy, cello.

7. BOLERO AMOR 2:46

I have a romantic feeling in my heart and this feeling leads me to create this piece, a bolero inspired by the beautiful sound of the romantic Mexico.
Oscar, rhythm and lead guitar; Brent, upright bass; Gustavo, congas.

8. MI TIERRA 2:02

After 15 years since 1979 when I left Chile and came to my new home, Canada, I have been experimenting with different styles of music. I wanted to make a song to project the authentic Chilean traditional rhythms with my musical experiences in North America and bring these two cultures together.
Oscar, rhythm, fill, lead and harmony guitar.

9. CRYING FOR CARMEN 4:06

This special, sweet waltz is dedicated to the memory of my Holy mother Carmen, who is in heaven. I am sure that she's still giving me, from there, her love and spiritual support. My heart is crying for her.
Oscar, rhythm and lead guitar; Brent, upright bass; David, lead mandolin, mandola and mandocello.

10. NOBODY'S PERFECT (FLACOS MIND) 2:08

Live performances are the real expression and evidence of the authenticity, creativity and sometimes false notes that we make. The pure performance that is almost impossible to recreate in the studio. This song reflects part of that.
Oscar, rhythm and lead guitar; Brent, upright bass; David, tenor guitar; Peter, rhythm guitar.

11. ROOTS 3:29

I put together this melody to remind myself where I come from and to keep in my heart the culture and traditions of the rich music of Chile.
Oscar, charango rhythm, and lead and harmony guitar; Brent, upright bass; Dorothy, cello.

12. GUITARRAS FROM HEAVEN 3:32

I put together this melody to remind myself where I come from and to keep in my heart the culture and traditions of the rich music of Chile.
Oscar, rhythm, fill, lead and harmony guitar; Amos, fill and lead guitar; David, mandolin, mandola, mandocello; Brent, upright bass; Dorothy, harmony cello.
